Persimmons after dinner treat.

Stalking the wild Persimmon - recipe

I always look for variety in my diet, it makes life interesting. I recently tried Persimmon a fruit with Chinese origins. They have a lovely orange color, tough skin but a sweet decadent texture to the actual fruit. The average size Persimmon 167 grams is about 118 calories, contains no cholesterol, lots of fiber, vitamin C and A.

The Persimmon is not only delicious it is a beautiful fruit and has show up in famous paintings from time to time. The most famous is from the Song Dynasty by Mu Qi, a 13th Century artist,, who painted in the sumi-e style and rendered the "Six Persimmons". (see below)

I say: admire it, paint it, juice it, have fun with it, but make sure to eat it, that is the best part. Also, they can make a lovely centerpiece for your table. Use some piece of pine, place the persimmons on top, maybe add an acorn on the side and you have a colorful arrngement for your holiday table.

P.S. If you find it too tart, then maybe it should have been left to ripen more, just add some Stevia or Maple Syrup and ENJOY! The softer they are the better the taste.!

I suggest the following recipe:

Chop one Persimmon

add `1 cup of yogurt (fat in please)

dash of organic cinnamon, blend, add some good quality chocolate sauce to taste.

and enjoy.
